Pottery Works Exhibition of Agano Ware by Mamoru and Maharu Kumagae of the Mamoru Kiln

The distinctive appeal of Agano Ware lies in its thin lightweight material, and a wide variety of glazes that melt in the kiln to produce a variety of patterns. The Mamoru kiln upholds tradition while breathing new life into vessels by using scraping technique to remove portions of the surface and create patterns around seasonal motifs. They also work in a style that uses the jet blacks of darkness, reds like the morning glow, and the blues of a bottomless sky to  engrave vessels with the changing faces of nature. Come enjoy unique works of art made with the diverse techniques and glazes of Agano Ware.
