Exhibition of Kurume kasuri fabrics from Shoji Yamamura and his apprentices
Kurume kasuri woven and dyed fabrics boast over 200 years of tradition as passed down by ancestors from the region. There have also been endeavors in recent years to promote the beauty of these crafts overseas. This particular exhibition brings together quilts exhibited at the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum and Seattle Art Museum, selected works from the Japanese Traditional Kogei Woven Crafts Exhibition, happi coats from the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival along with new fabric designs and Western clothing. Some items are also available for purchase.
