Exhibition of Kimekomi Mataro Dolls of the Kamikamo School
Kimekomi dolls are a type of wooden doll said to date back to dolls made by an odd-job man working at Kamigamo Shrine in Kyoto. Elegant Mataro dolls have been created meticulously using techniques handed down over generations under the sole authority of Kamigamo Shrine. On display and sale in this exhibition are a range of dolls including beautiful princesses in kimonos, and people performing traditional Japanese dances.
