Exhibition of Soothing Yakishime Ceramic Works
Yakishime ceramics are formed and dried in anagama (ancient type of pottery kiln), and are then fired using only firewood. The ash from the firewood which is generated within the kiln is melted by the heat, forming a natural glaze on the surface of the works and reacting with the components in the clay to create colors. This really is the art of clay and fire, where no two works are ever the same.
