The works in this exhibition were created using an original method in which paint is applied to wood and whittled down. Known as “mokutosakubanga,” this new style of craftwork that combines carving and painting is also beginning to attract interest overseas. Please enjoy the inherent sense of harmony between the natural beauty of woods and painting and the variety of carved expressions in these works.
