Ichinoseyaki Marutagama Parent & Child Exhibition
Marutagama preserves a rare technique called "Enyu" which uses salt in place of glaze. Salt is added to the kiln from outside during firing and undergoes a chemical reaction which forms a glassy enamel that gives rise to the beautiful gloss distinct to Enyu finishes. Items on display and for purchase include new vases and tableware by the master that feature wave patterns, as well as accessories and flowerpots by his successor Maruta Megumi.
