Kurume Kasuri Woven Fabric – Aika Tanaka Kasuri Kobo Exhibition

Kurume Kasuri is a type of traditional cotton fabric produced in southern Fukuoka Prefecture. Aika Tanaka Kasuri Kobo uses cloth dyed by hand with natural indigo to create woven works with a range of patterns, both classical and modern. The items on display and for sale in this exhibition include kasuri kimonos that feature an original design called “hoshikuzu” (deep indigo fabric studded with intricate stars), as well as other clothing and accessories.
