Hemp Palm BroomsOther craftworks

Until about 30 years ago, hemp palm brooms were produced in many areas of Japan as a side business for farmers during the fallow season, and were made using hemp palm planted in front of houses. The fibrous quality of hemp palm makes it excellent for picking up dust, and by using one of these brooms every day to sweep floors, the oils in the skin of the hemp palm add a natural sheen to floors. These brooms are also highly durable and can be used for many years, making them an enduring everyday item since ancient times.
