Okawa Paulownia Chests of DrawersWoodwork/bamboo work

Paulownia is a variety of wood which is suited to Japan's hot and humid climate. It boasts not only excellent heat/moisture regulating properties and fire resistance, but also protects the contents of drawers from insect damage. Okawa paulownia chests of drawers are attractive items of furniture which allow the inherent grain of the wood to fully utilize the special qualities of paulownia to the maximum. They are created using elaborate techniques and with only the finest thick boards of straight grained wood. With mechanisms at the back of the drawers that act as air vents, their appeal lies in the uniquely airtight feeling when opening and closing the precisely fitting drawers, as well as the pleasant sensation of paulownia on the skin.
