Haki Boys' Day Festival StreamersDyed fabrics

During Boys' Day, a festival in which people pray for the healthy growth of boys, Haki Boys' Day streamers are put on display along with carp streamers. The production of streamers became prevalent in the Asakura (former Haki Town) area in particular because the rich water resources of the Chikugo River made it particularly suited to dyeing materials. Traditional hand-dyeing is still used today to create these streamers, which are then repeatedly dyed and left out in the sun to dry. These colorful streamers feature vivid designs of famous generals and battles from history.
